Is it a Meyer? No, it's a Schulz!
Our mouthpiece, inspired by the legendary Alto sound, not only sounds authentic, but is also a faithful reproduction of an outstanding Meyer 5M from the 1950s.
A medium sized chamber paired with a medium length facing (23mm absolute) and rollover baffle allows for great modulation of the overtones and ensures a crisp attack and strong overtone presence.
In addition to the proven CNC-supported production, the 3D printing process is now also used, so that 2 material variants can be selected: Ebonite or dental resin.
Dental resin
For mouthpiece printing using the UV process, only high-priced dental synthetic resins are used that are intended for the manufacture of dental implants, have a corresponding certification for biocompatibility (according to ISO 10993) and are therefore harmless to health!
The advantages of 3D printing lie in the exact reproducibility of the inner geometry, which ensures the specific sound of the Meyer. As this also eliminates various steps of small-scale manual work, the mouthpiece can be offered at a lower price.
Ebonite
This is contrasted by the durability of the ebonite material (also known as hard rubber), which has not only proven itself in over 100 years of saxophone history, but also allows the most precise production of the baffle and mouthpiece tip.
The mouthpiece blank, which is made from bar ebonite using a CNC milling machine, is brought to perfection in many steps of precise manual work. This makes the production of ebonite the supreme discipline, with the best results for the finished mouthpiece.
The sound of the Bebop is within reach!
